Cal Expo
Most people in and around Sacramento think of Cal Expo as a location, the place where they can find the California State Fair every summer and the place that hosts the Home and Garden Show, and the Boat and RV Show. Actually, Cal Expo is the independent state agency that manages the events and activities at the Cal Expo property located off Business 80 on Exposition Boulevard.
The annual State Fair is the biggest event held at Cal Expo, but there are a lot of other ways that Cal Expo touches the Sacramento region. Cal Expo has a wide range of facilities that offer recreational and entertainment opportunities for the entire family
The Miller Lite Grandstand has a one mile dirt track that is used for both harness racing and thoroughbred racing, with wagering options offered, of course. Additionally, motor sports enthusiasts pack the grandstands every year for the Sacramento Mile.
Raging Waters is a sprawling water park with multiple water slides for thrill seekers, a long lazy river for those that want to take it more slowly and a wave making machine for those that like to challenge the crest of a breaking wave. It's a family friendly spot to spend a warm summer day.
Papa Murphy's Park is for the music lovers in the Sacramento area. Every year Papa Murphy's Park draws big crowds for top notch music acts to be enjoyed in the 12,000 seat venue. Of course, Papa Murphy's park is also home tho Sacramento professional soccer team The Republic.
